if the resolution is in the list, then you can just use following command to
switch
xrandr -s 1920x1440
if not, then you need to use gtf
tool to calucate your customized
resolution config, eg, if you want to set your resolution to 2560x1440
, then
you can run following command:

gtf has calculate for you. That is the config you need to
add to xrandr.
Create new mode in xrandr
sudo xrandr --newmode "2560x1440_60.00" 311.83 2560 2744 3024 3488 1440 1441 1444 1490 -HSync +Vsync ─╯
after you create new mode in xrandr, when you list the mode, it show that mode in the bottom with unassigned

after you assign, run the xrandr you will see the unassigned
resolution now is
listed
